I just love FnS, but rod is enough to win a fight. Bow isn't a necessity, although it gives me a safer feeling and ranged attack.

I'd say rod, if I had to choose.

I don't typically use the fishing rod or fns, Thats why i would a bow, it can be used as a fishing rod and is very useful for spam and teams.

Flint & Steel is definitely my favorite secondary. It helps you take out hackers, teams, and even singular players if used correctly. F&S saves lives and will prevent further harm to you (unless you light yourself on fire). So, what are you waiting for, use Flint & Steel today!
