So recently, I have been restricted to go to Minecraft because I had to export my files to a drive and I have yet to find a computer to put those files in, and frankly, I was thinking, and today, I want to give you a topic that has been in my mind for quite some time, and I shall tell you guys through the power of the Internet.

A Map Committee.

So one day, I was talking with AlpakaWhacker, the head of maps, and I asked him why MCSG does not have a formal map committee and he answered me by saying that MCSG did have one, but it ended for reasons he could not formally tell me, and I went on ask him why we can't make one now, and then goes on to tell me that he would be planning one or something like that; I can't recall.

So now, I come to you to propose the idea to make a Map Committee for MCSG:

Now, to go on to list why we do need a Map Committee.

  • Ok AlpakaWhacker , I have to give it to you: You have done a fantastic job with managing the map community, but me just straight up say that it's way too much stress on you to do everything and then, when the stress overcomes, things start becoming overdo, and it might just be a tad bit too much chaos for an admin. It is your job, but you're a human (or alpaka, idk ;-;, not a robot!
  • A Map Committee would be an extremely organized way to bring maps to the servers at set times which would call for mappers to step up to bring good and MCSG worthy content into the servers.
  • The opinion of one is not enough to voice the opinions of all. With a map committee, you can fully get the opinions of others to fully get a much better glimpse if the community truly wants it. No offense, but just asking Chad and the admins just won't cut it.
In the event that you and the adminsitrative team are to consider making a Map Committee, here is what I propose.

  • Set limit on how many people can be in the committee.
  • Experienced builders and critics of builders are recommended, but others are welcome too.
  • An application must be (it will be required) done and sent to a person who is to deal with applications, and the team will come to judge who should be on the committee or not!
  • Forum Icons to distinguish who is in the committee!
  • Interviews can be done if you like; its really up to AlpakaWhacker
  • Bias to accepting maps because they were made by certain map will not be tolerated!
Here are ranks that could be in the committee:

So really, this is only just an idea and I would love to hear your opinion on it :D

I might add on more to it as time progress, so... yah thats really it :)

I have suggested it before, however he has turned it down a couple of times saying that it is un-needed. Soo yea but I'd love to see him reply on this thread regarding this idea.

There used to be one, right? It had a couple representatives from the big build groups like Team Elite and Red Forest, etc. I don't know what happened to it, but it doesn't seem to still be around...

First off, I'd like to note how well organized, and managed this thread was. You seem to be a very skilled forum poster! Great job making an easy to read, and understandable thread.

While I love the thread, and the idea. I believe that having a separate staff team for map committee, would be a very bad idea, I think it would be convenient to have the current staff team take up the map committee, if we needed one.

The reason being this could easily be abused, having one person get a bunch of their friends to apply for map committee, to get their map considered for addition on the servers.

Might I also add, that communication between Moderators and Map Committee Members, would be very difficult, as they could not communicate via. Slack (The MCGamer Staff's Communication Medium) without having the Map Committee Members have access to staff exclusive documents, and information.

Although I personally believe the Map Committee Team idea wouldn't be as well a success as we'd like it to be, I believe we could trial it and see how it works out, perhaps some other staff and members have some good opinions on the subject. Good luck with the idea, anyways!

Also, I believe Jamie is enough to handle the map situations, and pushes as he's been doing it for a while now, and there doesn't seem to have been any issues within the map scene.

If you have any questions or concerns, feel free to contact any of the staff, or me about the situation! In the meantime, have a nice day within the MCGamer Community!

it wouldnt be a seperate staff team per se.

thats what the interview, background check, and application are for.

theres something in slack that you can do called guest accounts where developers can make it so that certain people can only see certain things, so they could make them see a channel called #mapcommittee with the map com. and everyone else in it.
Also, I believe Jamie is enough to handle the map situations, and pushes as he's been doing it for a while now, and there doesn't seem to have been any issues within the map scene.
Let me quote you something from the thread:

Opinion base. There's one thing.

Frankly, people want map updates quick and often, but not too often. Jamie is leaving us at the edge of our seats just to wait for an update and that can just be frustrating!

The Map Committee Died out because it was a complete waste of time, the Committee argued 24/7 about maps and hardly turned up to meeting, and when they did they argued.

I don't suggest bringing back the map committee, and most of definitely not in the form you suggested.

As for this, it seems more like a clan to me! Who are you to suggest a Map Committee? Not to be rude, but you don't have a successful Map on the servers and you haven't been around very long.

I've been here since 2012 and I have been through every struggle MCGamer has had, I may not of been directly involved, but as a community member I always got the rebound of a bad decision, the removal of the Map Committee was the best decision ever made because it prevented struggle and allowed nice maps to flow on to the servers more freely.

As a friend of Jamie, I know that he has all the experience he needs to choose a good map, there's no need for a Map Committee.

(My opinion, not intended to cause flame if flame is caused based on my opinion, it is not my fault.)

I am going to say something and if you take this offensively I feel sorry for you but I'm just going to say it:

You're probably the most pompous I have ever met in my entire life.

Who am I to suggest a map committee; ARE YOU KIDDING ME? I am a person who has a right to an opinion that can be expressed in the way that I choose to, and the fact you say that shows how much you don't deserve the respect you have.

Not to be rude, but you don't have a successful Map on the servers and you haven't been around very long.
It has yet to be accepted because a Map Update never came around. Have you ever considered that? And what would my being around the servers have anything to do with me just recommending something to MCSG?

As for this, it seems more like a clan to me!
I am prone to the opinions of others in this subject and maybe it isn't very efficient; that's what people's opinions are for.

*my opinions and I am subject to express them*
