What are you planning on using the computer for? That choice kinda decides which parts you want more powerful and better, etc..

...Alienware? Really? You do realice that's the most overpriced brand you can get. All their PC are about 30-40% more expensive then other PC with the EXACT SAME parts...

IMO, someone shouldn't really buy Alienware. It's overrated and it costs too much. You can just buy a custom one, or just a pre-built one with less money and it will be better. It seems like they have some good gaming laptops, but it's too much money (1500 average price)

anyways, I 100% agree with Mol. Alienware is very overpriced and for 1.2k it wouldn't get you much.

In my opinion, I'm heading towards buying one of these: http://www.cyberpowerpc.com/

pick the pc you like and customize to your own pleasure.

Performance wise it's good. Performance compared to the money you pay it for it's very very bad. Please Please Please Please Don't suggest Alienware to people, they'll only get less performance for their money...
