I agree with Vestre, 1.7 is great for PvP and I'll be sticking with it.

They should definitely update it to 1.9, because they need to keep up with the latest version of Minecraft, you can't stay in the past forever, and plus, who knows how many features MCGamer could take advantage of?

Also, if they don't want any features in a gamemode (either it is unrealistic for the style of gameplay or what…) they can remove it in the gamemode!

1.7 since no one wants shields

I do think the implementation of shields and dual wielding will definitely freshen up the whole mechanics of PvP, it will be something we will have to get used to because it seems odd that 1.9 is labelled as the 'combat update' and we are essentially a PvP server ...

Personally I think we should be able to play on both 1.8 & 1.7 however have no 1.8 blocks or items so people who enjoy both 1.7 & 1.8 pvp will love MCSG.
