Most people just Rod and Crit and repeat. That is simple, and its automatic. So, does it take as much brains as strafing?

I like rods, I use them, but as PrivateFearless and Huhawi had said in the video, it's annoying when people Run and turn and rod. It is a good tactic offensively.

Rod does take skill. When it isn't muscle memory rodding does take skill. For me I have a deathadder so I hot-keyed one of the buttons on the side to my rod so I have to constantly change to rod and sword

I'm a literal god with the sword, but can't land a rod for my life.

I suppose it depends on the player; some people (like myself), find swords simpler while others may find rodding simpler.

I lovvvvved it back in the day when no one used the rod but lets be real they are not going to remove it and shouldn't.

I know what you mean, because it may look a little easy to do. Does it require skill? To some degree yes...

It's not really that simple to land your rod every cast followed by a combo...it does require some skill I guess.

What I did to get a hang of the rod is practice in multiple PvP FFA servers. If you can't go on servers then go on a single player world and practice with mobs.

I'm someone who uses a rod regularly, and I believe it does require some skill. Timing, Muscle Memory, and Range are just three key things to note when using a rod.

But yeah, I think you should practice on some FFA or some other PvP servers. I would mention some names, but I'm not going to say them here. Anyway.. Yes, I believe rods do require a bit a skill. ;).

Using the rod in the "noobs" way (as in, spamming it to keep people away from you) is pretty easy, anybody can do that. In order to be good with the rod, however, takes practice and experience. It takes a while to hone in on aiming and timing your rod hits correctly in order to result in solid combos. To add on to that, the rod incorporates more opportunities to get larger combos, whether through some sort of straight line or strafe.
