Now I do not really speak of this in real life as it wasn't the best time for me. I never felt suicidal during this time, but I wasn't far off. I thought about how the world would do better without me, how another person would be born to replace me. In this post, I want to talk about my depression in which I have overcome and how you can help your depression. I am not some scientific genius who knows the ins and outs of depression, but I can state some facts and things that helped me overcome it.
- My Story -
So here it is. I was 13 when I started becoming lazier, more tired and didn't feel like doing anything. I slept and layed in bed until 1:00, sometimes 2:00 and I became unfit, unhealthy and I was not in the best mental state. The only times I would wake up were for school, and some weekends to do things with mates. I barely used social media and I stayed inside gaming a lot. I played solo and only talked to some irl friends occasionally. I stopped talking to online friends for 8-9 months and only came back recently. Most of my friends know that I laugh at my own jokes, because I have my own sense of humor, with my own jokes that I find funny. I laughed at some things my friends said, but most of the time I was faking. I stopped speaking to everyone, put on some weight and really didn't do much. My parents started noticing this, and they helped me. They didn't want a 13-14 year old son progressively dying mentally every single day. I started seeing a psychologist and we discussed ways to help my future. I found that gaming actually helped me from depression as it was a hobby and was also something that I enjoyed putting time and effort into. Some people find speaking to people or medication to be helpful, but for me it was as simple as something I enjoyed in life.

- Overcoming your Depression -
Some things that can help you recover from depression are:

- A hobby (dancing, singing, gaming, skating etc.)
- A friend that you trust, you can talk to, relate with and laugh with.
- Medication (I do not recommend this, but as a last option, this would probably help you.)

Thank you for listening to my story, for anyone who suffers from depression, keep your head up high :)

This is MUCH better than the thread posted on my forums. This has a lot less details and it tells people to not seek medicine a lot less. Good for you. If this were the original thread, I probably wouldn't have deleted it, and instead would have only given feedback.

Im writing this not trying to offend anyone.

In year 7 of school a psychologist diagnosed me with depression. I was feeling really down all the time i think because i was seen as a social outcast and also i had some family problems at home.

I never thought i had depression and i never did. I stopped giving a f*ck what people thought about me and i was only focusing on what makes me happy and what develops me as a person. All of a sudden after blocking out all the negative bullsht in my world i feel happy again. This is all 3 years ago now but let me tell you. Depression isnt the problem your mindset is, if you decide to believe and give in to an invisable illness then you are going to be unhappy. Surround yourself with people who you care about and do things that you want to. For me video games and guitar playing was and still is my escapes from bullsht in this world.

So no, depression doesnt exist you are just convincing yourself that you have an illness that a counseller diagnosed you with just so they can book you in for more appointments so they make more money.

For me talking to someone didnt make a differnece when i had "depression", i fixed it myself and if i can anyone can.

Lowkey i was an emotional b*tch as well back then.

You're an idiot. There are two types of depression, situational and clinical. With situational, you're kinda right it is a get over it sort of thing. I had it, I've been there. However, clinical depression is caused by mistakes in chemical communication in your brain itself. It often needs to be treated with medication, and yes, it's lifelong. Scientifically, you're blatantly wrong and should do some research before telling people depression doesn't exist. That can cause harm.
