They're fairly good already. As others have said, the proportions are off. Additionally, the hair in the first one is rather blob-like, the backgrounds could be better, and the poses could be more dynamic.
However, they are quite nice. The colors are pleasant, as is the light on the hair. The...

I didn't know how to crop the Link drawing so I left that up to you. The others that I inquired about will be done next.
Don't forget that doing well in school doesn't necessarily mean you'll be set for life. It'll likely help a great deal, that much is true, but I believe that your career is more reliant on connections. Also, if you're stressing out over grades, don't forget that it's just a number or letter at...
We hear a clatter.
The sound of me falling to pieces.
My skull watches you leave.

I'm not sure about the gradients thing. I've personally never used gradients in my art, but I wouldn't say that they're "cheaty" or that you shouldn't use them.
If something doesn't look right, try erasing it completely and starting over. Fixing certain lines and working around it will seem like a good idea early on, but the end result won't be as satisfying. Never force yourself to finish something you don't like.
These are pretty good! Don't worry about what others have to say about them. If you like making rectangular backgrounds, then do so. It's your opinion that matters in the end.
If you're unsatisfied with the number of people using your artwork, then stop drawing it for them. That's what I did, at least.
I love my current avatar though. I'll probably use it for quite a while longer.
What the hell, $30 for a simple avatar and $50 for a banner? All his stuff is way too overpriced.
God, I know people may need some money but in my opinion no simple piece of art should ever cost more than $5.
How can people charge for renders in general- this is atrocious.
Wow, I haven't been back on MCSG for a while but this really made my day.
That being said, I have to say OTSchauzer wins it in my book. The number of requests he's completed, all for free, is truly amazing. His art is spectacular.
