Invisible fire

Invis fire has pretty much always been around in mcsg. I remember it used to be just on glass and chests, then on grass and now that I have recently come back after my mcsg break I seem to be finding a lot of invis fire in places I would never expect. If you guys could tell me where invis fire is possible that would be great. (Btw i know you can put it on sides of trees)

It depends what version you use if you are on 1.8 you can see the what would be invis fire to 1.7 users

By cobblestone walls do you mean you can place it similar to the trees (like on the side) or actually on top?
