Blockhit when:
- fighting one opponent face-to-face when opponent isn't strafing or strafes very little
- when you're four hearts or lower in a 1v1 sword battle
- when you've just killed one member of a team and need to avoid being cleaned up by the 2nd member
- when someone just tried to get a fishing rod combo on you and you don't want to run (will at least cut some of the damage dealt to you)
When Not To Blockhit:
- when chasing someone (something Tomahawk used to do but doesn't anymore)
- when fighting two people at once (unless you're extremely dextrous and thus, good at strafing)
- in water (stops your forward momentum while the other person has greater range due to their constant forward momentum)
To those of you who discarded blockhitting for whatever reason, I strongly urge you to think again. It's never wise to leave the one tool that you'll almost always have at your disposal out of your arsenal. Think.
If any of you have any other specific scenarios to add, I'd be glad to see them posted. However, general "blockhitting's for nubs" related comments are destructive and, frankly, half arrogant and half idiotic.
Good day MCG!
