1.7.9 update status

I was just thinking what comes after 1.7.9 even though 1.7.10 is technically mathematically incorrect and that bothers me >.>

Except, as I said, version numbers aren't decimals, they're strings of numbers, punctuation, and sometimes letters.
A few examples of widely-used software (which you may not know all of):

• Linux 2.6.32-431.el6.x86_64
• OpenSSL 1.0.1g
• Xime 1.12.4 (yes, we version our internal plugins - 1.12.4 is quite an old version, but just an example )
