Hello tributes!

As most of you should know, your Report Abuses must contain some form of evidence, due to the fact that we can’t ban off someone’s word. The purpose of this guide is to help you out with any issues you may have attaching evidence to your report, and hopefully make things a bit easier. :)

Screenshots

To attach a screenshot to your report of a player being abusive, misleading players, or demonstrating other chat-related misbehaviours, please go through the following steps.

1. The first step to attaching a screenshot to a Report Abuse is, obviously, to take the screenshot. To take a screenshot, you can either use the built-in function on your computer, or use a screenshot program.

a. On a Windows, when you see someone breaking a rule in the chat, make sure you have the Minecraft window active. To make your window “active”, make sure it is in the foreground of your monitor and isn’t behind any other windows.

Then press the “PrtScn SysRq” key, and it will copy the image to your clipboard.

Afterwards, find the Paint application on your computer, and open up a new document in it.

Make sure that new Paint document is active, then paste (“Control” and “V”) the image into the document. Afterwards, save it to your computer in a place you can easily access.

Do not edit it in any way while it is in Paint, we will not accept edited screenshots as proper evidence. After this step, you should have a file saved on your computer containing a screenshot of the rule-breaker.

b. On a Mac, when you see someone breaking a rule in the chat, push your chat button to reveal the chat history, then hold down “Shift”, ”Command”, and “3”, which will take a screenshot of your entire screen.

This should create a file on your desktop containing a screenshot of the rule-breaker.

c. If you do not wish to use the built-in function or they don’t work for some reason, you can download a tool for taking screenshots instead, such as Gyazo. With Gyazo, screenshots you take will automatically open a web-page with the screenshot. You can download it at https://gyazo.com/ . If you prefer this method, you may skip Step 2 and go straight to Step 3.

2. The next step is getting your screenshot on a website. If it is just saved on your computer, nobody else will be able to view it. The most popular way of sharing screenshots is through Imgur, due to the fact that you don’t need to create an account. Simply go to http://imgur.com/ , then drag the file containing the screenshot onto the front page, and click “Upload” when prompted.

Once it is done uploading, open a different tab and begin Step 3.

3. Go to http://minecraftsurvivalgames.com/forums/report/ , where you will be creating the actual report. Click “Report Abuse Templates”--

--and copy (“Control” and “C” on a Windows, or “Command” and “C” on a Mac) the text inside the green box that says “Code:”.

Go back a page, and click the “Post New Thread” button. If there’s two, click the one closest to the bottom of the page. Title the report with the name of the rule-breaker and the offense they’ve committed. Afterwards, paste (“Control” and “V” on a Windows, or “Command” and “V” on a Mac) in the template and fill it out with all the proper information (put the offenders name in “In-Game Name”, not your own).

When you get to proof, switch back to your other tab that has the Imgur image, then right-click it and select “Copy Image URL”.

Go back to the tab that has your report and paste in the link to the screenshot. Afterwards, you should be all set, so go ahead and post your report!

Videos

Screenshots have their limitations, we sometimes need videos instead for things like hacking or glitch abusing. Please go through the following steps to attach a video to your report.

1. The first step to attaching a video, is to take the video. There are several applications out there for both Windows and Mac users that enable you to record your screen, such as Fraps, Dxtory, or Camtasia. Discovering how to record with them should be self-explanatory. When you run into a hacker, start recording (make sure you get proper evidence, or else your report could be overlooked!). Most recording programs should have an Export or Share feature, which will allow you to compress and render the video into a file. It’s different for every program, and I’d rather not list how to operate each one. This is strictly a Report Abuse guide, so if you want assistance with an individual program, there are places online where you can get it. In any case, your outcome should be a video file no matter which program you use.

2. The next step would be getting your video file on YouTube. If you don’t have a YouTube account, head here: https://support.google.com/youtube/answer/161805?hl=en . After you have created an account, or if you already have one, go to http://youtube.com/upload/ and drag the video file onto the page. Title the video with the name of the hacker, and set the video’s publicity to “Unlisted”. Once the video is uploaded, open a new tab and being Step 3.

3. Go to http://minecraftsurvivalgames.com/forums/report/ , where you will be creating the actual report. Click “Report Abuse Templates”--

and copy (“Control” and “C” on a Windows, or “Command” and “C” on a Mac) the text inside the green box that says “Code:”.

When you get to proof, switch back to your other tab that has the YouTube video, copy the URL, then go back and paste it into the proof section of the template. Afterwards, you should be all set, so go ahead and post your report!
