Hello MCSG'ers! We wanted to share with you our progress for this weekend and there is a lot to talk about:

Welcome Catching Fire via Quarter Quell!

We are "soft" launching our new MCSG game variant, Quarter Quell using the map Catching Fire based on the last hunger games movie. We will be making a more specific post on Thursday for our "Grand Opening" describing in detail the game type, but TL : DR for right now: we basically put the clock mechanics into MCSG! Instead of only worrying about a player, you will need to worry about the environment as well, which we dub PvEvP! Want to test the beta version of Catching Fire via Quarter Quell? Join in our US or EU network or use the direct connect DNSs listed here:

1-14.mcqq.us (US direct join DNS)
1-14.mcqq.eu (EU direct join DNS)
/server qq# (Hub direct join from 1 to 14)

Why are we calling this a soft launch? Well, because how advanced this game type is using a lot of the Minecraft environmental features we expect some bugs we will need to squash before next weekend. If you see any bugs with this game type (which we fixed most today), please report them here so we can perfect this gametype. Like SG Classic, we are separating the leaderboard statistics for this game variant but we are resetting them on Thursday at 10 PM CST because of this beta launch. Once released, we will add more servers on the other networks around the world. We will post the official announcement thread then announcing the finished version of our mini game. Good luck and may the odds be never in your favor! :)

Note: Because we use a lot of Minecraft environmental features, some people have complained of lower FPS on lower spec computers. We recommend you install the client mod Opifine to help if you are experiencing client lag: http://optifine.net/downloads.php (Optifine is one of the mods on the approved client mod list for our rules). We will do our best to optimize this game play based on your feedback.

Removed 1.6 support, upgraded to stable 1.7 servers!

For the 3% of our players who still were using 1.6, you may have noticed we have upgraded to only 1.7 version servers. We upgraded all locations to support the new core system but wanted to let you know we already fixed the following bugs:
  • Patched hunger and food saturation (vanilla 1.7 for some reason changed how food works and we made it more like 1.6. #BlameMojang)
    • To give you more details, Mojang for some reason on 1.7 made huge changes to the food mechanics. This obviously made MCSG more like the "Hunger" games as the bar goes down a lot faster based on your movement. We are actively working on reversing this change to make it more like 1.6.
  • Addressed random disconnect issues and random lag spikes
  • Increased stability in MCSG, SG Classic, and QQ for 1.7 client bugs
More stability updates will be patch throughout the week.

US network upgrades!

If you have been playing on the US network the last few days, CubedHost has been upgrading our servers to better handle the demand of players we have been experiencing. We had 3 maintenance within the last 3 days and reason why US "disappeared" or disconnected randomly. We still have a few more things to finish with increasing our capacity of our community. Want to read more, read our last post of our upgrade plan: http://www.minecraftsurvivalgames.com/threads/mcgamer-lobby-and-network-upgrades.79802/
That would all be sick Chad, only problem is that we still loose hunger really fast.

It only works on US, at least for me.
Also I find hunger not an issue, Except for at the start.

Which gametype and which server? We applied a fix last night which allows you to go about the same distance as 1.6 for your hunger (~1370 blocks like 1.6 instead of ~600 blocks like 1.7).

Yeah we know and aware that NCP needs a config update after we converted to 1.7. We are pushing some fixes tonight.
