Does War create Peace?

Interesting. In some instances, yes, war may create peace, for a limited time.

But there's no way it's worth all the shed, hatred, sorrow, and pain war brings to people. It's befuddling the ways people take matters and attempt to resolve them...In the long run, with war there's no peace.

War only creats hate, sadness and has a lot of losses, both in human souls and in structures. No, war doesn't create peace, peace is gained by itself and by the will of the people.

Can't write any other sophisticated things, gotta go to school xD

War in no way brings peace. While at the conclusion of a war there may be a ceasefire, the legacy of the war will remain regardless. War brings death, pain, suffering, and a desire for revenge. Though in some cases war is necessary to combat great evil, it cannot be argued that it brings lasting peace.

Looking at famous wars in history, this pattern can be seen over and over again. The massive debt Germany was left with at the end of World War I laid the seeds for what would become World War II. America's war in Iraq exploded outwards and, even though the war is supposedly over, it has expanded into conflict in Afghanistan, Syria, and many other Middle Eastern countries.

War creates conflict. It pits nation against nation, man against man, and robs us of any sort of common humanity. War is the only theatre were the murder of fellow human beings is not only condoned, but encouraged. Violence only propagates more violence, and it cannot be argued that war creates peace.

No. War creates violence, quite literally. There may be some peace in the end but there will be a very lasting tension.
Couldn't have said it better. The only time war brings peace is if it's a terrorist organization and all of them are killed in the war.

People are too barbaric to have peace. Take this, for example:
The Korean War ended over 60 years ago.
It lasted only 3 years.
North Korea hates us.

The Vietnam War ended around 40 years ago.
The U.S. had troops there for over 10 years.
We form a good partnership with Vietnam.

War doesn't make peace. It makes change. And eventually, more change leads to another war.

I think great example of how War does not create peace is World War I, as Zeno said. In the end of WWI, there were many countries who suffered immensely from the effects of the war, the main two being the U.S. and Germany. Germany was in immense debt, and the U.S. just went back to dealing with the already growing social tensions they had been dealing with since the end of the Civil War in 1865. That specific war just caused four years of fighting over an assassination of one important political figure. The only thing that came out of it really was debt and eventually another war.

Let's think of also these recent wars against terror that are beginning to involve almost all countries. With the rising threat of Isis, it is becoming a decision that must be made by many world powers on whether to involve themselves or not. In a sense, we're experiencing World War III first-hand, just this time it's basically the whole modern world against a radicalist eastern movement and the half a nation that backs it.

Depends on how and who it is against. In my opinion there is too many factors to answer this question.

I honestly disagree strongly with this viewpoint. Though from a strictly American (or whatever nationality one belongs to), this is a victory, it still does not bring peace. Yes, you have ended a threat to your nation, but you have accomplished that task through the murder of everyone involved. Their families will be heartbroken, their friends will be enraged, and there will be no lasting peace.

You can't think of war just as a matter of us and them. Every single one of the actors in a war is a human being, and that has to be remembered, no matter how misguided, radical, or violent they may be. Though war is sometimes necessary, you can't view it as a cleansing force. However you frame it, killing people is killing people, and just because we do it for a "good" cause, doesn't mean it brings peace.
