But following guidelines, paying attention, jumping through hoops, and passing standards are major requirements for a wide variety of jobs. School isn't useless, even if some things you learn aren't particularly useful.

I guess that's true.
I just don't agree with the current school system, but making any sudden changes would disrupt everything.
