Note: I wrote the entirety of these posts in a subjectively narrative style. As such, some ideas or “sentences” may appear fragmented or incomplete.

The following post(s) largely consist of both personal opinions and accounts, on behalf of me. My recollection is only as good as my brain allows.

Before I had an “online life”, I spent large portions of my time outside with friends. I can remember: we had a huge community sports field with a soccer field, two baseball fields, and four basketball courts. One day we would be playing a casual game of tackle football while another day bore a competitive yet friendly game of basketball. Regardless, I never found myself at a computer for more than an hour at a time. That is not to say using the computer often is bad. No, not at all. Rather, it largely leads into the idea that two or three years ago, I did not have a constant check lingering in my brain regarding what new ordeal or dilemma was going in the online world. Unfortunately, online experiences have plagued me with the aforementioned linger. I would constantly be sitting in class, not focused on the curriculum, but, rather, who said what in the most recent Sr. staff meeting or did this person really think it was a good idea to say that to the admin? Before even delving further in to that, I’d like to preface all of this with what most MCG forumers refer to as “My Story”. (Edit: Turns out, I won’t elaborately construct a completely exquisite and detailed story. Rather, I’ll just recollect certain vivid memories I have in a general chronological order)

Ah, I remember my first day talking about Minecraft. I was sitting at a lunch table with my usual school friends. The kid that usually sits across from me, by the name of James, mentioned his recent interests in Minecraft. He went on and on about his expansive house he built and the large quantities of diamonds he mined. Sparking deep interest within me, I wanted to see the game for myself. After making plans to purchase a copy and play non-stop over the weekend, I proceeded to buy the game that same night. Over a 48 hour time period or so, I proudly assembled a modest settlement with a functional but dull house which, in turn, resided next to a crude farm. Fun? Sure, but not fun enough to keep me entertained long enough. Fortunately during that time, I was finally getting around to reading the official books on the Hunger Games. I would always think about how fun it would be to have a video game version of the Hunger Games. Later that day, I browsed YouTube in search of something similar. Although not exact, I did come across Nate252’s first MCSG YouTube video. Intrigued, I decided to punch in a server IP and give it a go. Although I was completely unaware of the different server states, (lobby, pregame, ingame, deathmatch, and endgame) I assume I managed to join a server in “lobby” moments before it switched over to pregame. Unaware of what to do, I picked a random direction and ran. The map, SG2, bore beautifully crafted skyscrapers and such. Oddly enough, the direction I chose to go eventually led to the formation of my “killer” chest route. Starting with the tier two on top of the lava building, it then consisted of the parkour tree chest, the sewer chests, and, finally, the tier two on top of the water tower. I didn’t formulate this entire route on my first game. No. Rather, over the course of a week or so, I was finding myself with nearly full iron/diamond sword within the first four minutes of the game.

Fast forward another week or so and I found myself spectating my first sight of a hacker (albeit, at the time I didn’t initially recognize him hacking). His name was, if I recall correctly, WM_Blackout21. He was #1 on the leaderboards and I absolutely admired his ability to command the course of the game with ease. After watching him for a couple of games, my mind was set on becoming highly proficient at playing SG. As I spent more and more time dedicated to playing on the servers, I noticed a problem: Rule breakers. Back then, there was no “chat filter/anti-spam”. If you wanted to spam “ALT+F4 FOR FREE DIAMONDS”, you could as much as you wanted to, assuming there wasn’t a mod watching you. Shortly after, I typed up and sent in my moderator application. Unlike today’s process, users had to send in their application by email for Karoleigh, a former admin, to check. After another week’s time, I was told to send in my application through the forums as that was the new way to do so. During this time period, I met my first user on the forums. Still a moderator today, his forum name is branone.

On the first of July, I decided to donate for the “Iron Donator” rank. Fun Fact: This status was liked by ChadTheDJ. The reason why he saw the status, I assume, was because back then Chad had to individually go on a user’s profile and grant them the donator rank. (I may be wrong on this one; it has been so long!)

Something I learned to greatly enjoy was participating in Chad’s livestreams. tpemrickjr, my IRL friend, would commonly come over to my house to play in the livestream with me. It was great fun and an awesome way for the staff and community to come together for some relaxed, casual fun. Unfortunately, Chad doesn’t have the time to livestream as much as he used to. (Used to be every Friday on US 28!)

Around this time, I was starting to gain a fair amount of attention for my ability to win. At this point in time, I met my first player in-game. Call me a liar or whatever other false name you wish, but that player was Kricken. At the time, I thought Kricken was some 12-13 year old boy that liked to play/spectate my games. After adding me on Skype and noticing the gender set to “Female”, I decided that between her female in-game skin and all other profiles saying “female”, she was some 20+ female player. Little did I know, she would become an aspiring YouTuber only about 8-9 months older than me.

At this point in time, many days had passed without a reply to my moderator application. Eventually, however, it was indeed accepted by Favorlock and I was interviewed by Karoleigh and Favorlock. I became a mod right before the “rush of people applied”.

Early to mid July, FinsGraphics started becoming a known artist in the MCSG community. He made free avatars for the majority of the Senior Staff. Amazed by the avatars, I donated some money and sure enough, my avatar that I still use and love was born!

I remember one day I was on TS after a moderator meeting. I was talking with Blamph and he humourously told me to change my name to AntVenom on the TS. (At the time, I sounded somewhat similar to AntVenom due to my voice and microphone). Within a few minutes, the channel I was in was literally flooded with people. I had users lined up for a “Q&A session”. Before my antics continued, Karoleigh promptly came down to the channel, removed my mod rank, and kicked me off of the server. I came on five minutes later and was quickly moved up by another admin, C4_85, and got my rank back. He laughed and told me it was a pretty good little joke and told me just to not do so again. That was that.

Also around this time period, I met my great online friend Antster360 who, at the time, wasn’t too far behind me on the leaderboards. Little did I know he would be someone by my side for a good portion of my MCSG adventures. http://puu.sh/7H9RM.png

Blamph and I were, respectively, the number one and two spots on the leaderboards around this time. Although completely friendly, it was funny to throw around fake trash talk jokes and whatnot eat each other, all out of good fun. Here is a picture of Blamph replying to a thread titled “Your biggest rival” (Bonus: G33ke had a subsequent reply)

According to slasherxtreme, I became #1 on the 21st of July. http://puu.sh/7H9YJ.png

Although I lost a drive to remain number one, I still had a drive to kill dudes in SG. Still good friends with Blamph, I was recruited to his clan, accurately dubbed “The Blamph’s”. Our only major threat/rival was the CyanVolts. Any and everytime the two clans clashed, it was a fairly noticed event.

Again, around this time or so I met some other cool dudes like SomeMugger, PanuterNut, and nate252. Along with Antster and others like NinjaShrimp, Bessemer, and the_french_guy, we’d roll round in DayZ having a blast. (Save Nate252)

This constant stream of MCSG and DayZ continued on for a good two or three months until October. On October 16, 2012, I was promoted to the Sr. Mod rank. That was truly a great day. I remember being moved up by PanuterNut and being told, “be patient, something good is going to happen.” If you didn’t know, Antster360 and I were simultaneously promoted to Sr. Mod.

-End of section 1- (May to early/mid October)

Here are some important screenshots that don’t have a full story behind, but do bear importance or relevance to section 1.

One of my first screenshots in MCSG: http://i.imgur.com/ihVrnIV.jpg

A screenshot of me in lobby as a Sr. Mod. (Also, some dude was rudely telling me he could easily beat me in a “1v1”. Always jokingly picking on me, Aeruner jokingly replied “no”.

Section Two will most likely be posted on April 1st.

Wow great story you have done great job to the community and maybe you have never seen me but I have known you since last March/April when I first saw you. It is a bummer to see you let go of your mod rank and somewhat leave the community. Just wanted to say a friendly good bye. :/

Don't know how you do it.

You have managed to make a recollection of you playing a video game extremely exciting and "mesmerizing". It's like a book that you can't put down.
I really think you have a future ahead of you as an author :p
I'm now waiting in anticipation for part 2.

It's quite disappointing to see another well known (And old) member leave.
