I see a lot of new players coming on and asking questions or being very confused. So I'd like to help out by posting these basics to the Survival Games. These are not tips, they are simply the basics, to help you understand MCSG. It will only take you a few minutes to read.

Have you read the Hunger Games books? Reading it would help you understand, as that's what the servers are based on.

First of all, you can find the server IP Addresses here: http://minecraftsurvivalgames.com/pages/servers/
Type that in, and wait for you to connect to the servers. This may take a minute. Once that is done, go ahead and look for a server with an open slot to join. You can see exact details about each server here: http://minecraftsurvivalgames.com/pages/servers-us/ orhttp://minecraftsurvivalgames.com/pages/servers-eu/

When you join a server, you may start in a lobby or in a game-in-progress. If you start in the lobby, you must wait about 8 minutes until the next game starts. What do you do until then? Nothing, really. Just walk around, try out jumping from trees, vines, or obstacles. You can also make alliances with other players in that free amount of time.

If you start in a game-in-progress, you are a spectator. When you die or join a game-in-progress, you become a spectator. You can view different 'tributes' while you wait for the next game.

There are a total of 24 tributes (in server 21 and 22, there are 48 tributes). The last tribute alive wins. There is a cornucopia in the center of the map. When the game starts, you are teleported into the map (there are currently 2 maps that are played on). You must wait 60 seconds until the real thing starts. When it does, tributes either sprint to the chests to get some items and then run off into the unknown parts of the map, or they skip running to the 'corn' and go straight into the forest or city.

There are chests scattered around the map. You should work on memorizing where they are, and you should pick a route for you to follow every match. There are items of value in each chest. Food, weapons, armor, miscellaneous items, and more can be found in each chest. There are only a couple of workbenches (where you construct items) throughout the map. One is in the cornucopia.

At night time, all chests are refilled. But there's a reason why people go back to the cornucopia before night time. The cornucopia chests have the most valuable items, and usually whoever controls it wins the game.

Also at night time, mobs come out. What are mobs? They are enemy AI's, including skeletons, zombies, spiders, jockeys, and endermen. It's best if you get to some place out of the reach of mobs, and with a light source. If you're wandering through the night with poor weapons or armor, there's a good chance that mobs will kill you. This is another reason why one might go to the cornucopia at night - 1) it's in the open, so people can't sneak up on you easily; 2) it has the best items in the whole map in its chests; 3) There aren't masses of mobs at the cornucopia. But be prepared, as many tributes will fight to the death to gain control of the cornucopia, and if you aren't well equipped, you may be one of their victims.

Lastly, the numbers to the left of your name are your points. What do I mean? When you win, you get points. When you kill another tribute, you get points; but when you are killed by another tribute, you lose points. You lose and gain a certain amount of points based on the other tribute's and your current amount of points.

Well, that should help out any beginners, and get you on your feet quickly. I hope this helps, and thanks for reading. Here's the rules page for those who need it: http://www.minecraftsurvivalgames.com/threads/its-time-to-talk-about-the-rules.983/
