Help for a noob like me?

I just joined this website, and I'm pretty new to Minecraft as a whole. I wanted to join a SG server, but I wasn't sure *which* one to join, in that I didn't know which ones were ok to join. Some say "pre-game", and some say "lobby". I wasn't sure if it was ok to join either of these... any advice?

It's also to join one that only has 4 people left, because that means deathmatch will start soon. When deathmatch is over the server restarts and you're basically guaranteed a spot if you're fast
