Hello, tributes!

With the release of MCGamer V2, people are clearly still adapting to the changes. Not only that, but with the recent release of the Mockingjay movie, we are getting tons of new players seeking a Hunger Games experience on Minecraft! I am asked quite frequently by both new and old players alike how they can get started with MCGamer, so I’m here today to answer those questions! In this guide, I’ll be covering how to connect to MCGamer, how to navigate your way around the hub, how to connect to any of our gametypes, and some essential commands. Hopefully you find some useful information here!

The first step before you can even begin to play is to connect to the server. Please note that you must have a premium Minecraft account to connect. We currently offer server locations in the United States, Europe, Australia, and Canada. The IP addresses to each location are as follows:

United States: us.mcgamer.net
Europe: eu.mcgamer.net
Australia: au.mcgamer.net
Canada: ca.mcgamer.net

Join whichever server location is closest to you for the best connection results.

Once you have connected, you will be placed in the hub, which looks a little bit like this:

You’ll see that you have some items in your hotbar, as well as some XP. Real quick, I’ll go over the purpose of each of these.

Experience Points

Your experience points show the ID of the hub you’re in.

Compass

The compass is the most important feature in your hotbar, as it’s what allows you to navigate through the gametypes we offer. Since it’s so important and has a lot to explain, I’ll go over it in the Gametypes section of this guide.

Clock

The clock is simple - right click it to toggle visibility of players in your hub. It’s useful for when there’s a giant crowd of people and you’re having trouble getting around it.

Book

The book is just like a newspaper! Right click it and you can read all about recent updates and events going on here at MCGamer. It is updated regularly.

Gold Ingot

This Gold Ingot is the MCGamer Credits Shop. You can only access it’s features by donating money to the server, but fear not, it’s purely for cosmetic purposes. You can buy all sorts of stuff here, like vanity items, particle effects, hats, seasonal items, and even your very own pet you follow you around the hub!

Nether Star

As we often have lots of players coming in, we have multiple hubs to prevent everyone crowding in the same place. The nether star is your way of teleporting between those multiple hubs. When you open it up, you’ll see a menu of enderpearls. The eye of ender represents the hub you’re currently in, and you can switch between the hubs by clicking on the ender pearls.

It’s mostly for social purposes, if you want to talk to someone but they’re in a different hub. You can also use it to join smaller hubs for some peace and quiet!

Let’s talk gametypes! This is probably what you came here for in the first place. Currently, the gametypes we offer are Survival Games, Quarter Quell, Zed Chase, Survival Games Classic, Battlegrounds, MCTF2, Rocket Rumble, Survival Bingo, Party Time, Color Zone, Hungry Games, and Deadly Descent. To access these gametypes, right click your compass.

You’ll be taken to the menu below. Let’s see how to get to the gametypes from here!

Click on which gametype below you'd like to learn how to join!

There are some commands that are essential you know for an easier time getting around MCGamer. Let’s touch base with these commands and explain what they do! Some of these have been covered in the Gametypes section, but they will be included again for organization purposes.

/hub
A very important command. This will take you back to the hub at any time if you wish to play a different gametype, so you don’t have to reconnect.

/tutorial
A helpful command that fits in well with the theme of this guide. This will initiate a tour of the hub, and you even get 3500 MCGamer credits for completing it!

/join [id]
A command to immediately play whichever gametype you want. In [id], put the abbreviation of any gametype you want to play. For example: if I wanted to play Survival Games, I would type “/join sg”, or if I wanted to play Party Time, I would type “/join pt”.

/watch [id]
A command to watch whichever gametype you want. In [id], put the abbreviation of any gametype you want to play. For example: if I wanted to play Survival Games, I would type “/join sg”, or if I wanted to play Party Time, I would type “/join pt”.

/server [id][#]
A command to go to whatever server of a gametype you want. In [id], put the gametype, and in [#], put the number of the server. This command is useful for if you want to join a specific server that someone else is in, so you can play with friends.

/servers
Lists all available servers that you can go to with /server.

/party
Parties are a useful system for playing with friends. It’s an easier method than /server, as you can automatically bring all your friends to a server much easier. Doing “/party” will display all of its subcommands.

/party create [name]
Creates your very own party. In [name], put what you want your party to be named. Make sure you keep the name appropriate.

/party disband
Disbands the party you are currently hosting.

/party list
Lists everyone within your party.

/party invite [player]
Invites a player to your party. For [player], put their full username.

Kicks a player out of your party. For [player], put their full username.

/party join [name]
Joins a party. For [name], put the name of the party.

/party leave
Leaves the party you are currently in.

/party private [true/false]
Determines if people are able to join or must be invited. For [true/false], put either “true” or “false”. Putting true will make it so players cannot join on their own and must be invited by you, and making it false means that anybody can join.

/party promote [player]
Promotes a player to a position of power within your party. For [player], put their full username.

/party ignore [true/false]
Determines if party invites show up for you or not. For [true/false], put either “true” or “false”. Putting true will make it so you do not see party invites, while making it false will make it so you do see them.

/party showinvites
Lists your pending party invitations.

/party warp
Warps everyone in your party to the server you are currently in.

/friend
Friends are fun system that allow you to see when your friends are playing on MCGamer. The command “/friend” lists all friend commands.

/friend add [player]
Sends someone a friend request. For [player], put their full username.

/friend remove [player]
Remove someone from your friends list. For [player], put their full username.

/friend accept [player]
Accepts a friend request. For [player], put their full username.

/friend deny [player]
Denies a friend request. For [player], put their full username.

/friend requests [#]
Lists all your pending friend requests. For [#], put which page number you wish to view.

/friend show [#]
Lists all your friends. For [#], put which page number you wish to view.

/report [player] [#] [description]
Reports a player. For [player], put their full username. For [#], put the number that corresponds with the rule that is being broken. Those values can be seen here:

For [description], explain more in depth what happened and how they broke the rule.

/apply
Provides more information on how you can apply for a staff position. If you are actually just “getting started”, hence the title of this guide, it’s recommended you play for at least a couple of months before you consider applying.

__________________________________________________________________________

With that, hopefully you’ve figured out how to get started with MCGamer!
Do not be afraid to ask a staff member or another player if you need any more help. Remember, this is only a guide for starting off.
