Map size help

Hi i dont know if this is meant to go into support or map ideas so here is my problem. In the main map ideas post " Attention map makers" it says

3) A 48 player map should have a minimum block diameter of 1000 blocks, and maximum of 2000.

Does this mean that the lengh can be 2000 long and the width can be 2000 wide or does it meant a 2000 block platform.

diameter =/= radius
From the center the map would be in any direction ((2000 / 2) radius) blocks
So 1000 blocks in any direction from the spawn point.

Also, there is no lenght and width, cause its sphere not a ellipse
Its only has a diameter / radius
