If they didnt lock the AU is getting shut down thread it could of beat the show yourself thread. In a month and a half of the AU demoliton thread being up it got 800 comments while mcgamers best thread has 7000. The AU shut down thread was still active by AU players just having conversations really. I think it could of surpassed the show yourself thread given 1 year.

No it would not have. The show yourself thread has done so well because it is always relevant. Like it or not, the AU shutdown will not be something that most people will determine worthy of discussion six months from now. Already, the discussion on that thread would be limited to mostly by AU players if it was still open today, while the show yourself thread is something that everyone is interested in. Furthermore, with time more and more AU players will move on and the thread will die. However, people will always find seeing faces interesting.
