Why do bans/kicks ruin your chance of becoming a moderator?
I understand that if you are banned from the servers for something really bad I can see how that would affect your application in a way that they would deny it. But what about the other people? The ones banned for minor things such as spam? The ones who dispute their bans? I feel that it a ban is an unfair way to judge another person. I feel that some people actually learn from that one simple mistake and actually learn the rules and abide to them afterwards. For me after my ban (which I will discuss below) I felt terrible and I learned from my mistake and took the time to review all the MCSG rules. I looked them over and I continue to visit the rules at least once a week. I really started enjoying the rules of this server and felt like I should be able to become a moderator so that I could help others see that the rules are actually a cool thing.

I tried for moderator my first time and got denied for not enough information. My second time was the same thing except I didn't put enough detail. Finally when I spent hours and hours on my application and added all the information that I could, I submitted a third application. The same Sr. Mods that reviewed my first applications told me that I couldn't reapply because I have had a previous ban on the servers.

My ban was in my early days of MCSG. I was relatively new to the servers and when I got into a lobby I started to spam to get my favorite maps voted. I would say something like "Vote 4" "Vote 4" "Vote 4" or something like that. I got banned for a total of 48 hours. After the ban I started taking the rules seriously and I reviewed the rules. Then I decided to dispute my ban, which I did, And I was able to get unbanned within a couple hours. Now that I've gotten it disputed the mods now hold all kicks I've had against me.

My point for this thread is

Give people with bans/kicks a chance! If they can show the commitment and dedication and prove to people that they realized their mistakes and learned from it then I believe they should get a fair trial when submitting a moderator application.

Here are the Sr. Mods that have reviewed my application. @slasherxtreme @Tacoface1234 @Purewelshboy1 Please take the time to read this thread and understand to give people a fair trial regardless of their kicks/bans

*Note I am talking about people with minor bans that have only been banned a total of one time. This thread is not in support of Hackers or people that have multiple offenses of being banned.

Wait, if you have a successful ban dispute, doesn't that cancel the ban on your name?

Yes, But it seems some mods will still take it as a ban on record.
If you ban disputed it and the time span got shortened then it still counts as a ban, if you appealed your old bans for thinking they were unfair and you success then they don't longer apply.

Thank you for explaining that. For my ban I disputed it successfully and it should have been removed altogether.

You supplied no evidence of this in your application, and you have no record of disputing that ban on this forum account. If you did actually dispute it, send me the link in a private message.

Well, I do agree with the "giving people a fair chance" part, but I'm not entirely sure about spammers.
Yes, I know people who do stuff like "Vote 4" spamming are generally considered nooby and don't know any better (No offense to you or anyone else, it's just common sense IMO that if you know the rules, you wouldn't do that.)
Those "spam" bans were against noobs who didn't know the rules - If they have a good application, it signifies that they changed their ways, became more mature (to an extent), and are not the same person they were back during their ban.
However, there's people who spam things like "Go on this server: __" etc., which are not only flooding the chat, but also trying to advertise/take players away from MCSG. Those bans are a different case in my opinion.

Yes, I completely agree. I was new to the servers at the time. My application showed great change yet the Sr Mods continued to bring up what happened in the past and judged me before they took the time to understand my application

Well, I guess they do have a huge amount of applications, and can't take the time to do everything detailed at once... unfortunately.

Actually, you have been kicked five times for breaking a multitude of rules since your original ban. It is for this reason that every senior moderator who has reviewed your application decided that you are not fit for the position. Normally this information would be private and we would not be sharing it publicly, however, if you are going to misrepresent the staff's actions by only telling half of the story, you don't deserve that privilege.

Now, I don't believe there is anymore discussion to be had on this topic. We want the very best moderators we can get, and we do not trust players with tainted histories to maintain that standard. If you would like to discuss this further, I would be happy to do so over teamspeak anytime. Just send me a poke.

Due to you publicly giving your opinion on this topic, I will give mine.

I am a person for 2nd chances, believe me I am. However... when it comes to hiring staff members 2nd chances can be tricky.

When we hire staff the main task we want them to is to do is to enforce the rules of MCGamer network. So with that said how can we hire staff to enforce rules that they themselves have broken? If doesn't seem right does it? This is one of the things we take into account when hiring potential mods that have broken the rules in the past.

Don't get me wrong you may be a mature person and maybe broke the rules by accident or something, however we must go on the evidence provided.
