Starvation

I was playing on a couple of servers and I noticed that whenever my hunger bar is completely depleted, I don't starve to death, I'm not sure whether this is a bug or is it implemented so you couldn't sprint or heal.

This is basic minecraft... It all depends on the game difficuly they have set up on the server... easy only takes half your harts, normal takes all but a 1/2 heart, hard kills you me personly i think they should have it on normal
