Strict Parents?

Hey MCSG Community! ツ

I have a huge passion for gaming. I can see myself working in the "techy" business when I'm older. But anyway, let's get to the point. Some of you may or may not know that I play on a laptop. Not an actual computer w/ monitor. I also have a $5 mouse. I also don't even have a mic so I can never talk to my online friends. Bam! There's my setup. (I use the laptop on my bed; No desk). I, personally, love watching setup videos because I think: Man, wouldn't that be cool if I had that! But no, I have the most ghetto setup on this planet. To make things even worse, my parents are kinda strict when it comes to "electronics". I, sometimes, want to play video games on a nice Saturday morning. But my parents will just kick my off for the rest of the weekend. And with school, I struggle with time. And since my computer costs $1,500, I'm scared to even think about asking my parents that I want an actually setup that costs more than that. But I have seen tons of tech videos on Youtube and they make me happy. I also have some personal problems irl and this whole computer/internet thing is like an escape. But I look at my ghetto setup and think why I can't have a setup? So the whole point of this thread is, do any of you have any ideas on how I can tell my parents this? I would love to hear your guys suggestions on this.

P.S. I only have like $100 right now.

I've actually managed to tell them how Youtube can improve my speech, socialism, and server hosting will improve my business skill. I've gotten permission to be able to play 1 hour after school on Mondays, Thursdays from 12:40-3, Friday all evening, and evenings of the weekend. Just use education with your persuasion.

I once had a craptop with 30 fps. I saved up money, and built a new one, which is far better. But again, I was only able to do this with my parents permission after having done well in school and convinced them. The key is getting your parents to support you.

I'm really not sure why your scared to ask your parents for a desk in your room... It's not like you're going to stay up all night playing on an iPad embedded into the wood. Just tell them you'll use it for homework and a proper workstation, and well, furniture. a

As for social problems, I gave someone some really good advice on the forums a couple of months ago which I didn't even realize until I typed it: BE THE PERSON YOU WOULD WANT TO BE FRIENDS WITH. Everybody wants to have that outgoing, or even sentimental friend, be that person and I guarantee you'll become more social.

Also, going into Sophomore year, I (sadly) realized social media helps a lot with your social life. You definitely don't have to use it, but I've found it as a benefactor, just don't get too involved with, especially Facebook.

EDIT: I also used to have problems approaching my parents about getting new things. Then I realized, if I can't ask my parents, who can I ask? Your parents love you and want to support you, not bring you down.

Thanks. I have a good relationship with my mom but my dad, on the other hand, is a different story. Say I'm in the car with my mom, I have a full-on convo with her. But with my dad, I suffer and only a few words are spoken. That is why I have trouble asking them.

Thanks but how did you get your parents to support you with this? And I don't mean to sound like a greedy person but I am an AP student and I have always gotten good grades. Yet, I still don't even have an xbox. It really demotivates me from doing well in school.

You shouldn't need rewards for doing well in school, the choice most of the time is do well in school then enjoy your life or have fun playing video games then later on regretting it. One setup that works for me is to do all academics during the week then play on weekends. Sadly, I have band so Friday and Saturday is gone ;-;

My parents know my passion for technology, and they know I want a computer. I have over $1300 but they won't let me buy a computer and I'm sad. I've already spent $200 on a blackwidow and deathadder.

Yep, I have a little bit of the same issue right here as well. But the thing is, I wouldn't recommend playing games on your bed all the time, I'm pretty sure there is a desk somewhere you can put your computer on, along with your mouse as well. It would be a lot easier to start off with that, but I am pretty interested with your technical videos, I would love to see what you can produce.

When I use to play 30 fps was the dream. If it wasn't for optifine mcsg would be unplayable
