Tools?

I've heard that Tools are 1 stage lower than their corresponding Swords. Like Iron Axe is as good as a Stone Sword. Is this true? And another Question: Do only Axes do more Damage or all Tools?

I believe they generally do a half heart less (as in axes) Not, sure, don't quote me that! Not sure about teh shovels.

I'm fairly certain axes do as much as a sword of the lower material and I think they do more damage than the other tools

Axes is the same as a sword one tier below as you said so right in that one, pickaxe i think is two tier belows and shovel three tiers below and hoes always does half a heart of dmg even if diamond

shovels should do more damage, because in real life you could brain someone with a shovel and kill them :3

Axes: | Wood/Gold = 1.5 Hearts| Stone = 2 Hearts | Iron = 2.5 Hearts | Diamond = 3 Hearts|
Pickaxes: | Wood/Gold = 1 Hearts| Stone = 1.5 Hearts| Iron = 2 Hearts| Diamond = 2.5 Hearts |
Shovels: | Wood/Gold = 0.5 Hearts | Stone = 1 Hearts| Iron = 1.5 Hearts | Diamond = 2 Hearts |
Unarmed/Other: | = 0.5 Hearts
Arrows: | = 0.5 Hearts - 4.5 Hearts
Burning: | = 0.5 Hearts
Fire: | = 1 Hearts
Lava: | = 4 Hearts
(FAQ: Punching fishing rods do damage. Casting does no damage, only knock-back)

thanks shaun but im pretty sure the bow damage is:
1 for uncharged
3 for semi charged
5 for full charge

It goes from 1/2 to 4 and 1/2 at full charged with a rare chance of a critical hitting 5 hearts.

hmm i was always told 1,3,5 and thats also what the wiki says.
