TL;DR: What happened to the server population in the last 2 years?

I always enjoyed playing MCSG when I was an avid player from 2013 to early 2014 recording a little over 4,000 matches played. From the time I started until the time I quit, MCSG's population only increased. I only stopped playing because I grew bored of Minecraft, but I'm confused as to how the server population went down from thousands of people playing to maybe a thousand or so, if that. MCSG has always, and in my opinion still provides, the fairest Survival Games servers out of many servers that I have played. Many other servers are pay-to-win whereas MCSG contains a level playing field between players. Was there an event that caused such a decrease in population or have the numbers been decreasing over time?

There are a lot of things that happened:

- The CA location got removed
- The AU location got removed
- Many Staff Resignations (there are only 3 Admins left now, and one is dealing with only the support e-mails).
- The Lead Developer resigned, there are only 3 Admins right now.
- There's not really too much progress made with the network right now, that's why many MCSGers (including myself) moved to Badlion, a Competitive PvP Network that has updates every single day, full-time, dedicated Owners and much more. I became a Mod there!

I think it's a mixture of people resigning, AU/CA dropped, and just people aren't really into the survival games game mode as much anymore, especially with bigger networks expanding their network with game modes that get popular.

True. Instead of everyone leaving, we need to do more events and stuff to bring the community back together again.

Exactly! I applied for Moderator and within my app I made a huge deal about bringing this community back by getting rid of hackers and I really meant it I miss the old MCSG and I believe we can bring it back.
