OASIS from "Ready Player One"

I'm sure some of you have read "Ready Player One." It's a great book. But what I was wondering was if anyone knows any Sandbox MMO games similar to the OASIS? I'm not that much of a gamer and I usually don't play anything but MC but I think I want to start trying out other games. Anyone have any ideas?

Although it isn't out and costs $130~ to buy in the alpha stages ( less for beta ) the full version will be FTP, and you can build your own towns with houses, and it is very player-driven in things such as economy, trade etc. ( it even has its own justice system which has players as the jury).
It is an mmo rpg fantasy (sandbox-ish, not completely editable ofc like mc), bht is the closest game i can think of.
