Removal Of Friend Rank

They never said they weren't ever going to do anything for them, they're simply reevaluating what to do with the rank. It's an awkward transition and could have been done better, but it's done now. We'll just have to be patient, it's a pretty contested debate from what I've heard.

And that whole Hive thing at the end is kinda arbitrary and false...

RC how is that arbitrary and false? It's anything but the fact mods do not receive a special rank, they receive the highest donating rank. It's not false at all. MCSG is close to being a Hive knockoff. MCSG is afraid to be their own server

1) MCG came waaaaay before The Hive, if anything The Hive is a knockoff of MCG.
2) That comment at the end is far from not being arbitary and false. This is a decision by ChadTheDJ , who if you didn't know holds the highest position of MCG. In my opinion, this is the right desision for most of the ex-Friends. Many of them have been Moderators for, say 1-2 months and/or didn't do much. For the ex-Friends that do deserve their rank, they should have it.

Why would MCG remove friend rank specifically to be like Hive? No offense, but I just find that notion kinda dumb. It's not like Hive SG wasn't made to compete with us.

Hive was only created because Variede was angry with MCSG not giving everyone in their team VIP. MCSG refused to give everyone in their team VIP, only the important ones were. So they created their on server, The Hive. It was all created because we couldn't give some people VIP? I know VIP is special and should be only given to people who make a significant impact on the community and contribute in a special way.

MCSG is being afraid of who they once were or at least some. Have you ever heard about sheep and shepherds? Everyone is only one of these things. Just because Hive dont have Friend ranks doesn't mean that MCSG has to follow what the Hive did. Right now the Hive is being the shepherd and what are MCSG doing?

They are being the sheep. Baaaaaaaaa. Why do we have to do what others do? Well, its great because you actually don't have to! It is called indivudiality. Indivudiality as a whole, indivuadilty as one. Everyone should have a say in what we do. Even the ones who are not so important. Everyone's opinions should be heard.

Sooner or later we might start to call ourselves the old Hive. This shouldn't happen. We shouldn't make desicions just because others have made their's already. Think carefully first. Ask yourself is it a good idea? Then ask yourself would the communtiy like it? And then ask yourself what would their comments or feedback be?

MCSG staff I would like you to take this in. Ask yourself do you all think it was really wise and what was really the purpose behind it?

You clearly don't know the real situation... The thread explaining it all is on hive... They say that they wanted to buy MCSG out and own it as themselves (them being Hive owners Vareide, Brits Clank) and Chad declined the offer. Hive then tried to get the MCSG community to join them and this started the "war" between the two servers. There is no need for people to be fighting... The servers have sorted everything out and the owners would have moved past it by now.

Here's my take on it:

There are 2 reasons they removed the Friend Rank.

Reason 1: There are waaay too many friends nowadays. It shouldn't be a rank that just everybody has, it should be a rank that close friends of the administration and mods who retired respectfully should earn.

Reason 2: Kind of tying in with Reason 1, getting friend rank is way too simple. If i didnt want to buy donor, i would just go through the moderator process, and the moment i got mod it's like i pretty much had donor for life. Why? Because i know that once i resign, i'd have friend rank.

So im guessing the staff wants to eliminate people who are applying for mod just to have friend rank, and only have applicants who want to actually help the server.

Your comments make sense however I was under the impression that the retired staff were going to get a different rank. Maybe platinum or a new rank but I always thought their would be one. Correct me someone?

All the ex-mods (now have platinum donor) said it themselves RC. I don't think you understand. I would appreciate if you brought your fanboys to the thread as well as being VIP and Hive SG wasn't made to compete with you. But they are buddy. Your only looking at it from one perspective. I've played on multiple communities and this one is by far the worst. So MCSG does what it does best, If MCSG were have not to removed a pink name.

Seriously guys this is getting out of hand... I honestly believe friend was removed due to it being too common. It used to be something special but it quickly got highly common (sort of like VIP is) Also guys the way I remember it is that the ranks had numerical numbers to them with 1-4 being member to diamond, this made friend rank 5, mod 6, sr mod 7 admin 8 and dev 9 (chad has a custom admin rank i believe) This means that there was simply no room so my guess is that friend was removed to allow platinum to be moved in.
