Hey guys!
So, some of you might know that I attended Vidcon this summer. At Vidcon, I got to meet a ton of Minecraft Youtubers and a ton of Minecraft Youtube fans. That's when I started thinking - starting a Minecraft channel is pretty risky. Not only are you limiting yourself to an audience who enjoys video games, but you're further placing restrictions on a community that enjoys Minecraft. However, one thing that caught me by surprise was that there were a GOOD amount of people that didn't even play Minecraft that enjoyed watching these people. An example of this are people who attended The Cube meet-up.
Probably about 70% of the people that I asked at the meet-up said they haven't even played Minecraft. So what is it? Is it an SMP that people just enjoy watching? Are gameplays even the way to go anymore for a successful YouTube channel?
I'd love to hear what everyone's thoughts are on the topic. I am by no means a Youtube nor do I plan to be, but I think the culture of it all is very interesting.
