Sprint Update - Answering Your Questions About It

Everyone seems to forget that BSM allows you to sprint in all directions. As of currently, this snapshot does not include that. Therefore, BSM should probably still be illegal.

I think that BSM will still be developed, although the creator may remove a part of the mod due to vanilla Minecraft now having it (I don't know which part)
As a person that occasionally plays on certain other servers that allow BSM, I can say that Vanilla MC still lacks some of the sprinting features that make BSM so convenient for PVP'ing.
A major thing: The toggled sprinting. I don't remember exactly what it's called, but there's a feature that allows players to sprint every time they press W, and this can be toggled by pressing a hotkey.
Vanilla Minecraft did not implement this - You can turn sprint on by pressing a hotkey, but if you hit an entity or a block or something, then you'll stop sprinting. With BSM, this doesn't happen.
That would give people a reason to still want Better Sprint Mod to be developed, and thus a reason why it quite possibly still will be.

Guys, I don't think anyone has mentioned this but...
if you click the sprint key, you will sprint until you hit something or hit a wall. You have to click the key again.
Your sprint will keep breaking each time it hits a wall/you hit something with your hand. It's like normal, basically.

Better Sprint Mod can still be noticeable. With the update, your sprint will still break.

Everyone can agree Nodus is unfair. Everyone can agree a lot of things are unfair, actually. BSM is a special example. People don't complain about the mod being banned just because they want to cheat, it's because they genuinely think it should be a fair thing to use. This simply won't just happen again for common hacks - a hack is a hack and anyone who argues against that probably shouldn't be on our servers. BSM, on the other hand, is at least understandable from the point of view of most who argue it should be allowed.

This is exactly why I cannot wait for this update now - I apologize and mean no offense to you, but I know there are many misinformed staff members that don't actually know exactly how the mod works 100% that it worries me.

(Although, if someone is sprinting a direction other than forward, they are hacking, it's just not BSM.)


After the update comes out, I do not wish for those who used BSM to be unbanned, that's just not the right way to go about it, but I do ask to please be more lenient on those who are banned for it that dispute it. Honestly, I don't have to be on staff at this moment to know that BSM is the accusation that most people get when they are falsely banned even still to this date. I hope that those who are falsely banned because of BSM get another chance when it's not a problem, to play the game without accusations being thrown at them for something that no longer exists.

...and I also don't have to be a genius to know that there were some people who suspected even me of using it, while I was a staff member. >.> Nobody had to say anything to me for me to know this, I just get that vibe off of people - someone doesn't trust me and I can tell immediately, by the way they're acting, that they are secretly recording my gameplay, "just in case." This is all fine and dandy - this is the proper way to deal with a staff member hacking...but still, it bothers me, since I wasn't using it after all.

For those upset about not being able to double tap W to sprint... from testing it on the snapshot, you actually still can.

Do they have a specific button set to the sprint button? if so then you will obviously be able to start the sprint by double tapping w, even if you tap it 10 times it will still work

You can set whatever button you want for the sprint, and all you have to do is be holding that button while holding W and you will sprint. You can also start a sprint by double tapping W without holding the sprint button, but it will break easier than if you're holding the sprint button. It definitely takes some getting used to. I would not recommend trying it out on the snapshot and getting used to it and then going back and playing MCSG with the way sprint is now, or you're probably gonna have a bad time.
