Simply put, no.
"But 1.7 adds BSM anyways!" That's a common misconception. 1.7 adds one feature from BSM. BSM still isn't allowed because of the advantages it adds to the game - when you hit someone or are hit by someone, your sprint does not break. Imagine someone using BSM is chasing you and you get hit. They're able to advance on you quicker, as your sprint breaks and theirs doesn't. Reverse the scenario - imagine you're chasing someone who uses BSM.

I don't see what you mean by "bad experiences" if we're preventing BSM from being allowed to level out the playing field as much as possible.
Forairan, are you aware that mac users can set there sprint key to Caps Lock and keep press it once to ALWAYS sprint? A big advantage over other players who aren't mac users..

With the new update you do keep your sprint while in combat. All you have to do is hold down your sprint key.
I've been able to keep my sprint in combat, hitting blocks and even while block hitting and shooting arrows.

The best way to get evidence for BSM was always sprinting while in combat and particles between bowshots.
Now that you're able to do this with 1.7 getting solid evidence for BSM is almost impossible.

But minecraft sprint gives advantage as well you can start your sprint in midair, while you can't with BSM, and MAC users can use caps lock to keep sprint going on forever, without havng to hit the 'sprint binded key' to activate it again.

Minecraft sprint doesn't give an advantage because everyone has it, and everyone can use it. On the other hand, not everyone knows about BSM, and out of the people that do, not all of them actually choose to use it.
Obviously, there are some advantages we cannot minimize, such as the Mac caps lock sprint bug (which, by the way, is considered exploiting a Minecraft bug, and is technically bannable if you were to openly admit to it), but as I said, we try to "level out the playing field" as much as possible so that the difference between a win and a loss doesn't come down to BSM.

Isn't using caps lock on a mac and holding down the sprint key on a PC the same?
As both will allow you to maintain your sprint while in combat?

So If you're on a PC and you hold down your sprint key will that get you a ban as well?

Think of it. No more controversy between Better Sprinting Mod and the new 1.7.2 sprint, no more unfair bans for Better Sprinting Mod. If players have Better Sprinting Mod or not its their decision to install it.

Why not? Haven't you seen all the unfair bans for BSM? Now, will there been even more? We could save so much time on allowing BSM. I don't understand why can't we just accept the mod.

can't people just play the game? we have a built in sprint now, great, why change it? Why make such a big deal about such a little topic, its just causing controversy and making people angry. Just use the built in sprint, its better that way for some people, and its better than arguing about illegal mods...

Hey guys... So, the reason that BSM is still bannable, is due to the fact that Better Sprint Mod has many other features than just the sprint button. One for example, is the ability to sprint full speed backwards and to the sides. Another, is the ability to fly faster, and to disable the double tapping of W. Using the 1.7 sprint is fully supported, and we advise you use it, if you feel you wish. IF there is a mod that fixes the sprint without providing any other features above the basic in vanilla, it would be allowed. Due to what BSM turns out to be in the future, and how it interacts with multiplayer, will be determined when it is released and the officiality of supporting and overturning that rule will be discussed among the staff. Its interesting to see the amount of support that BSM has here, but will still remain against the rules until a decision is come to by the staff... Thanks for reading this, and have a wonderful day!
