Since the anti-BSM came out I am proud to say I haven't been kicked once and constantly hold option with my pinky while playing. :) I was uber scared I would get kicked but it seems to be smarter than I initially thought. One issue is NCP. The restrictions on sprinting set by NCP often traps you (doesn't let you move) for 5-10 seconds if you don't stop sprinting every minute or so. NCP isn't configured strictly enough to prevent hackers and only really prevents good players from being amazing. :p

Since this anti-BSM has been installed I propose we disable anti-speedhax in NCP. It only helps hackers hide it even more (looks like rubber banding from lag)

Thanks,

What a lot of players don't realise is..1.7.2 sprint is more OP than BSM, or atleast 1.6.4 BSM.

With 1.7.2 you're about to sprint through combat and keep sprint after hitting a block.
All you have to do is keep holding down the sprint key OR if you're on a Mac assign the sprint key to Caps Lock.

With 1.7.2 sprint you're able to being sprint while in the air and in water without having to go down to the bottom to gain that more momentous sprint.
Which is something you can not do with BSM

One question I have is, are Mac users allowed to assign their sprint key to Caps Lock?

I've been told me it takes advantage of a "glitch" in MC.
I see it as just a feature for Mac users and not a glitch at all.
That's like saying if you hold down your sprint key on Windows that's taking advantage of a glitch as well.
It's all apart of Vanilla MC

Any comment, ChadTheDJ?

The point is that mcsg is supposedly trying to provide an even playing field (As has been suggested by staff) yet 1.6 Vanilla and 1.7 Vanilla are being supported even though one provides such a huge advantage over the other. Yet 1.6.x BSM and 1.7 Vanilla aren't supported even though they provide a platform which is much more even, and, supports a larger audience.
If you played a 1.6.4 vanilla against a 1.7.2 vanilla the advantage is clear.
I am still not understanding some of that logic when people are asking us to allow BSM so that 1.6.4 clients can vs 1.7.2 vanilla clients. Yes I can agree that right now the game changed that drastically to have new advantages to the new client in 1.7. Again in like 2-3 weeks we should be moved over to pure 1.7 only. However, if we say we now allow BSM in our community, we are going to put us back into the same mess we have experienced in both the 1.5 and 1.6 days where there are more advantages in 1.7.2 + BSM vs 1.7.2 vanilla.

BSM is not allowed but not detected by the server - 1.6.4 users are happy
BSM is not allowed but it is now detected by the server - 1.6.4 users are angry?
Does that mean alot of people are angry because they can't hack anymore? I THINK SO!

Also, to 1.6.4 users saying its unfair because 1.7.2 vanilla have an advantage, as far as I know mac users also have an advantage over PC users YET I didn't see any PC users ask MCSG to allow hacked clients until mojang fix the issue with mac cap lock. The same thing happens every updates so everyone just have to wait and everything will be fixed!

Now is this a client detector, or does it just recognize if you sprint longer than 30 seconds ? Because I know the way it is on mac you can sprint for a ungodly amount of time :{

The logic of this discussion really confuses me.

In regards to the people complaining that the ban on BSM is unjust:
MCSG bans BSM because of an unfair advantage.
Players still use BSM knowingly against the rules.
MCSG adds a way to remove people who have BSM, which was always against the rules.
Players using BSM think that's unfair.
If you break the rules that are there for fairness's sake which applies to every player, how is that unfair? Furthermore, where was this discussion earlier?

In regards to the people arguing that BSM "fixes" sprinting with 1.6:
1.6 sprinting was awkward, but fair because it was universal; it sucked, but everyone used it so it was fair. BSM is a modded client that changes gameplay unfairly in the client's favor by adding some additional features such as sprinting below the hunger limit.
1.7 promised to fix the 1.6 sprint by incorporating a lot of features that BSM implemented, such as one-button sprinting whilst eliminating a lot of the more unfair bits (like the hunger limit). But more importantly, 1.7 will be universal whilst still incorporating the most essential parts of BSM.
1.7 with good sprinting will be the norm that is universally accepted, so then why should we allow 1.6 with a modded client that is against our rules for the sake of fixing something that's already officially fixed? Why should we allow you to break our rules and cheat if there's a better way? (If you're concerned about performance, please read below).

In regards to people saying BSM doesn't confer an advantage that doesn't already occur within 1.7:
It's true that 1.7 has a natural advantage against 1.6, but that does not automatically make BSM for 1.6 acceptable. We can't allow people to break the rules for the sake of leveling the playing field, especially when there are some aspects of BSM that vanilla 1.7 doesn't give. Instead, if you really want to find where BSM's inequality shines, we should focus on a better comparison: vanilla 1.7 VS BSM 1.7.

In regards to those using 1.6 justify their BSM use because 1.7 is prohibitive to them:
Let me make one point clear: there are things that we have no power over, and thus cannot change. It is because we cannot change those aspects that we take no responsibility for them, and must work around them in a manner that benefits the community most. Here are the things that we have no power over, and thus are forced to ignore:
  • Minecraft Update Features. We love and hate the updates equally, but we accept them all the same, same as y'all.
  • Minecraft Update Bugs and Glitches. The Mac caps lock deal is an unfair advantage gained from a glitch, from my perspective.
  • Optifine's status. Whether you depend on the performance boost or not, we can't do anything to make them update sooner.
  • Your computer. Related to the above, we can't give you awesome computers so that you don't have to depend upon Optifine. Some inequality will naturally exist by the beefiness of each others' rigs.

The problem is inherently that 1.6 and 1.7 exist and are expected to cooperate equally. In reality, they don't, and that inequality exists whether we like it or not. But just because 1.6 and 1.7 don't act the same doesn't mean that we should treat them differently, especially since this is a temporary deal. There's a reason why the statues in front of courthouses are blindfolded and holding a scale: they judge each case evenly by ignoring the wealth and status of each plaintiff. And we must do our best to do the same, regardless of the situation.

It detects it right when you join, then it bans you.

Amen

Basically sums up the entire thread. Which I agree with this post. Before 1.7 everyone hated BSM. Now we have 1.7 and everyone suddenly likes BSM.

This thread is honestly pointless i mean staffs doesn't want to listen so why bother ? :/
Ask what the community wants if they wants bsm allowed or not ! no just mere opinion of staff.

Client detector. Basically the BSM author sends an extra packet to the servers basically saying "Hey, BSM is installed". If the server detects that one extra packet, then they get kicked for 60 seconds until they remove the hack.

If only this was do-able with Nodus and other hacked clients ;_;
Maybe the Devs can one day work some magic!

BSM sends a message to servers saying this client has BSM, the servers detect that and ban the player for a minute. Then when the user uninstalls it they can join back with out a problem. At least that's what I've read.
