A way to stop mod inactivity.

Is this a good idea

This is in no way an insult or abuse to mods most of them are amazing

So i thought that maybe that we could put I cap on how many posts some one would have on the forums for mod apps. So I thought that we could make it so mods on the mcsg forums would have atleast 300 posts on the forums so they get to no the community and keep active on the forums I see a few mods with 0 to 5 mods im not saying there bad but maybe they could atleast socialise with the community because that can also lead into mods not being know and can all so lead some times into unfair bans.

Only good mods are being accepted and they are doing their best.
No im just saying that they should make it so only people that they know that are going to be active on the forums.

There are a lot of spammers too and a a lot of forum games where you can get posts easy.

So, you want to make people focus more on the forums than the actual game the forums is for? As long as moderators moderate the in game servers that's what matters. Them having more forum messages isn't going to make a difference. You argue them making friends with everybody is good, it could make them biased in decisions regarding punishment. Furthermore, you have to remember your life has to supersede the game staff members have other things to do. Older members have work, revision, coursework and other occupying things to attend.

I don't think having a certain amount of posts will make someone a better mod, and it definitely doesn't prove whether they are active or not so the thread title doesn't really go with the thread.
I think that a mod should have to sign on to the servers at least once a month though to be considered active, unless they have a good reason for not ever being there throughout the month (such as finals, long vacation, etc). I understand that mods have lives, but not being able to sign into a server once?

I, personally, think they should sign in more then once a month. I'd say once or twice per week would be adequate. Like you said, we have lives, but if we can't take 20-30 minutes to play one game out of an entire week, let-alone a month.. I'm not so sure that moderator in particular should be allowed to remain.

We've thought before about making a quota for the number of posts you must have before you can apply for mod. But, as you guys have mentioned, we don't want people posting on the forums just to reach the minimum level of posts before applying for moderator.

As well as this, probably around 75% of our mods had less than 20 posts when they first apply, yet are still active now. A lot of our amazing mods today (including me ;P) started off applying with very few posts to begin with but have proved that there is no need for a certain amount of forum activeness. Obviously, if they applied a month ago and when we look at their app and they haven't logged in since then, we probably won't accept them.

There's no real way to determine mod activity, unless higher ranks go through each and every profile once a month checking their statistics whether they've logged in a few times. Encourage people to think about how active they are and if needed send their letters of resignation if they start to get bored or lose interest in the community as a whole. It's quite annoying that people who know they aren't going to log in and do their job just keep their position when other people with potential could fill that spot.
