ok excuse this double post, but I doubt you do the type of editing i'm talking about. youtube editing/rendering doesn't take much. Talking about rendering huge files in cinema4d and after effects and stuff like that.

The thing is, by that time, if he gets a slightly less expensive GPU, he'll be able to get a 980 or whatever is coming out..

I'm building for the present, not for the future. Later in my life if I feel the need to get something better I will upgrade it.

So... why would he spend twice the money (realistically around 1,4x )on something that's only slightly better?

I said slightly less expensive...a 980 is much better than a 670..but realisticly, he doesn't need it..
