Does anybody else think enderpearls should be found in chests?

No, they are only in as sponsor items.

I hate them so much that they should even be removed from the sponsor list, but having them in chests people would just rapidly be mad and throw them everwhere. Keep in mind, no matter how much armour you have, (apart from feather falling boots) ender pearls take 2.5 hearts of damage once you tp.

There is a point to having them in the sponsor menu. If you're trapped in an area and a friend wants to help you escape, then they become useful.

They are already the most expensive item, and there is only 1 of them for the whole round. I think it's fine.
