It's not that they are noob, they just don't have that kind of some knowledge.

no clank gold is way too common it would kill the servers as we know them

I hate to be a party pooper but let me clear some facts up here for you guys.
1. A gold sword IS stronger than a wooden sword by half a heart actually.
2. It breaks faster than a wooden sword though
3. Enchanted gold items are given enchantments that are no better than other swords, dont waste your levels.
4. It is also better than a wooden and stone axe, so dont neglect it, it might be your best weapon.

in the new map 4 it was dm the guy had the corn and surely could make a dimond sword before dm but he made gold i had iron easy win
