It honestly depends whether you scroll or hotkey, then it is just a matter of what you personally find comfortable

I recommend this to people that is using the hotbars, and not the mouse scroll.

This is, in my opinion the best for people without mouse macros. I recently started to try an inventory setup that forces me to use skill instead of tryhard ez buttons

Although I am a bit late to the party, here is mine.

1) Sword - In this slot being the sword, it is really easy to hotkey from any number WITHOUT macros.

2) Flint & Steel - Once again, WITHOUT macros, it is very easy to scroll to the second slot and hotkey back to one.

3) Fishing Rod - Being that the fishing rod is very useful, I can simply hotkey to three and back to one.

4) Bow - I don't really have anything to say about the bow except I sometimes use it as a fishing rod; hotkey to it, shoot a slightly uncharged arrow, hotkey back to one, and fight them with a sword. However, this is a very hard trick unlike the fishing rod, and I don't recommend using it.

5) Flint & Steel - In my opinion, this is a very bad place to put it, but I make use with it, along with some other people.

6) Golden Apple - I don't really have anything special about it in this slot, but it is an easy switch from flint & steel and back.

7) Highest Saturated Food - Golden carrots, etc.

8) Second Highest Saturated food - Steak, Cooked Porkchops, etc.

9) Food That I Have Most Of - 22 carrots, 46 melons, etc.

All of these are not with macros. Some by hotkeying, and some with scroll.
