Unfortunately I yolo my fights too often I always say "don't risk it" too myself, as it would probably save my life in many cases, but then I still try to finish the fight - and die... That's not the best strategy, I guess

i use detonator and detjump up and then backburn heavies.

For me it all depends on what situation I'm in and what type of area I'm in. If I was in a small area than I would most likely go for block hitting and trying to set the other on fire, I would also try my best to get out of that area. If I was on a map like solar frost and I saw a two team I would not go into the fight, but then if I was in a large open area I would go into the fight depending on how stacked I am.

So for me its just a case of being aware of my surrounding and almost planning ahead as to where I could run if I got down to low hearts.
