When you touch the edge of the map, you take a lot of damage, like in the movie.

To replace The screaming birds in The movie you can do like chickens with The screek sound (Ghast sound) and The screaming gives The player some potioneffects. Exuse me for The typos and grammar misstakes was Writing this on My iPad :p
Already have this with bats.

Hopefully these ideas don't cause lag :

• Frost that acts like the poisonous gas from the book , when tributes touch it will take their hearts down .

• Lightening that hits the tributes every so often as like a regular lightening storm .

• All chest in that area filled with simply just food that is not edible . Example : Zombie flesh , poisonous potato , raw chicken , etc . (not sure if that's a possible thing)

• Nether hostile mobs spawn , not including ghasts .

• Wither effect

• Neusa effect

• Ender Dragon blast radiance , how the Ender Dragon can blast things blocks into the air pushing the tributes . If possible no ender dragon just the effect .

• Enderman mob spawn

I haven't seen all the disaster areas , so I'm sorry if some of these already exist and I'm just repetitive .

I think you could add acid rain and any player in that area would take damage from the rain or add an area where hostile mobs spawn all around you

Maybe when there are like 6 people left the game says."No eating until the next death!" or something along those lines.

Hello tributes!

To start off this post, thank you to those of you who have participated in the Quarter Quell beta testing so far. We've been able to find a lot of things that need worked on and correct them before our actual release. One of the major complaints so far has been client lag and freezes caused by the volcano and flood. Because of this, we have decided that we're going to replace two of the segments, the volcano and flood (9:00 - 10:00 and 10:00 - 11:00), with user-submitted disaster ideas!

But even better - for the two most creative disaster suggestions that are possible in Minecraft without causing massive client lag and end up being implemented into the game, the first person to suggest each disaster will get a lifetime diamond rank! If you have an idea for a disaster, suggest away; there's no harm in making a suggestion, and if your suggestion is chosen as one of the two disaster segments, you will win a diamond rank!

The winners will be picked tomorrow (Thursday, January 23). Thank you, again, everyone for assisting with the testing, and we're looking forward to seeing everyone at the grand opening this weekend!
My idea is that when you kill a tribute, a large hovercraft will hover over the area that you killed the tribute, and you have to run away from the hovercraft as it will be shooting fire charges at the player. Once the player gets out of range, the player will get Slowness for 10 seconds and food poisoning for 15 seconds.

They would need to make a plugin to do this, I believe. But still, great idea.
