Crazy 1.6 lag

With the coming of 1.6 and continuing to 1.6.2, I have been going down by way too much FPS. I normally would get 100-300 FPS in single player, and now I get 5-20. I have Optifine, I followed Forairan's guide on how to make it better, and I did everything I possibly could but it didn't change a single thing. Any other tips?

I also have gotten some fps drop. In 1.5 I had about 350 fps on average. Now i Get like 150...

I highly doubt that's your computer, that's a big FPS drop. Have you tried re-installing both Minecraft and the newest Java? That's what I'd start with.

My FPS has dropped a little bit with 1.6 as well, but not by that much.

I have re-installed Java, idk about HalfSquirrel tho

Since 1.6 came out Java has been updated and I believe that would have the same effect. I have not tried re-installing Minecraft, and I guess I'll start with that.

I've had no lag problems at all, but I have been hearing about quite a few other problems for other people. I know jefeperro's client won't even start up. At the moment I'm pulling off a solid 200 or so fps

yes it is normal, i get about 30-70 fps in lobby.

fixed it... was launching in full screen and my chitty graphics card couldn't handle it

The thing that worked for me was resetting my video settings on Minecraft.
