I voted yes because I think jocks are people who play sports like triple a hockey or rep sports, not smokers and stuff.

No offense to either of you, but I'd just like to point something out that I've noticed.

That's something often said by the jocks themselves. Jocks are popular, and that "popularity" automatically puts them kinda at the top of this "Social Scale" or whatever. They assume its natural, and they don't go out of their way to do something for other people, unless they're a fellow "high-ranking" person on the "scale".
The nerds, the unsociable fellows, and the people who aren't popular eventually get used to it, and they acknowledge that there's jocks and whatnot. However, wherever a popular person goes, they're greeted by tons of friends - Hence the term popular. They don't see the two or three nerds hanging in the background, because they're too busy joking around with fellow popular kids. Then they assume "Oh, everythings fine, no one's mean" right? They don't get bullied, because of their connections, good looks, sense of humor, or whatever it is that makes them so dang popular. In fact, some of them are bullies themselves, but may or may not notice it.
If they walk up to an upperclassman, they can greet them on equal, or nearly equal, terms. They don't feel uncomfortable, because they have such an abundance of self-confidence and "swagger" one might say.
The nerds stay away from them, and if a popular kid talks to them first, they act as if everything's fine, everything's dandy, nothing is wrong, which is not always true. I've seen tons, and I mean tons of kids intimidated by a seemingly friendly-looking person.
Lower classmen look up to them, but also can greet and be greeted on equal or nearly equal terms, if they're also popular.

I hate talking about this stuff, because then I insult jocks worldwide (oh wait, no I don't, I love making people mad! It's hilarious!)

In case you're wondering, at a glance most people peg me as a nerd. However, if they actually observe me, they'll notice that I'm in a group all by myself, who shuns the nerds, jocks, athletes, cliques, cruisers, and pretty much everyone else.
Yeah,

Of course, however it doesn't effect me as I'm not a nerd or in any "lower" social-group.

Where I live, the 'lower' social groups seem to choose to be that way. Why would I want to socialise with a load of immature 15 year olds who still call people names for no apparent reason?

I can relate to this although I was never really bullied. I was one of the smallest in the year when i was 11/12 but now at 18 I am now 5'11"-6'0" it's always fun to see how people react when you change. Tbh I am not a bulky guy but I have a lot of training so I know how to use my strength to it's potential :p I mean it's always fun when people try and pin me down and fail ;)

They're still jocks, but its just that you might be part of the "popular crowd"

We don't really have jocks here in the Philippines, we just have that popular group and the rest. I play football (soccer) and my group of friends all play football, and I guess you can call us the popular group. I don't really like to consider myself as popular, and I'm not a douch bag, I just enjoy hanging out with those people :)

Some of my friends do bully other people, which I don't like (unless that person is a feeler or a poser) but I don't bully anyone. I. A gud boi
